A power rake is the difference between a finished grade and a "good enough" grade. For landscapers, hardscape contractors, and anyone prepping for sod, seed, or pavers, the MTW Power Rake line from Skid Steer Nation is the standard. They make three series — here's how to pick.
Quick answer: pick by hydraulic flow first, then by job size
- Standard flow skid steer + occasional residential work → Series 1
- Standard flow skid steer + commercial / contractor use → Series 2
- High flow skid steer + heavy commercial use → Series 3
MTW Power Rake Series 1 — the entry pro tier
The Series 1 runs on standard-flow hydraulics (15–25 GPM) and handles everyday landscape prep work. Breaking up sod, leveling small lots, raking driveway gravel, prepping seed beds — it does all of it cleanly. If you're a small landscape contractor or homeowner with a big project, Series 1 is the sweet spot.
What it's not: a production tool. If you're prepping commercial lots all day, the Series 1 will get the job done but you'll be working it hard. Step up to Series 2.

MTW Power Rake Series 2 — the production standard-flow tier
The Series 2 is still standard-flow, but built heavier and faster. More aggressive scarifier teeth, bigger drum, better material handling. This is what contractors who run a rake every day buy. It eats hard-packed soil, broken gravel, and old turf that the Series 1 would struggle with.
If you're regularly turning over commercial sites (parking lot prep, commercial sod jobs, road shoulder work), this is the model.

MTW Power Rake Series 3 — the high-flow heavy hitter
The Series 3 requires high-flow hydraulics (26–40 GPM). With that extra horsepower, it can rake at significantly higher speeds and hold a finished grade in conditions where Series 1 and 2 would slow down — rocky soil, root-bound ground, heavily compacted construction sites. If you're running a high-flow machine and doing heavy commercial work, Series 3 is where the time savings show up. On a 2-acre commercial prep, you can cut your rake time by 30–40% compared to a standard-flow Series 2.
If your machine is standard-flow only, skip the Series 3 — it physically won't run right.

What every Series shares
All three MTW Power Rakes use the same proven design: scarifier teeth that break up hard ground, a rotating drum that pulls loose material to the surface, and side-shift adjustability so you can offset the rake from your machine path. All ship from Skid Steer Nation with flat-rate freight, all use universal quick-attach mounting, all are American-made, and all carry a 1-year manufacturer warranty.
Not sure which Series your machine can run? Check your skid steer's auxiliary hydraulic flow rating — standard-flow machines max out around 25 GPM, high-flow at 30–40 GPM. Email zach@smithcustomz.com or text 1-815-200-9363 with your machine model and we'll confirm the right fit.
